Job Summary:

 The receptionist is the “first contact” person who greets people arriving at the office and answers the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.  The receptionist is required to answer and forward telephone calls, take messages, schedule appointments, confidently supply callers with required information, and perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, sorting and distributing mail.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Commitment, reliability and punctuality are a must and the receptionist shall open the PBDC office at 8:30 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. each work day
  • Answering the telephone and greeting the public is an absolute professional manner
  • Greets people arriving at the office in a courteous and professional manner
  • Screens calls (ascertain the nature of the business)
  • Provides general information to routine questions.
  • Distributes incoming mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other department and organizations
  • Photocopies, complies and distributes documents related to workshops and any other routine documents, (e.g. reports, packages for workshops, etc)
  • If require, directs people to appropriate contacts or services

Qualifications:

  • Diploma – Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration
  • Criminal Record Check (required)
